Heather Coen became interested in art at a very early age. Her Mother often dabbled in watercolors and various art and craft projects. She began painting in her early teens. It was not until she opened L`Artiste in 1982 that she became serious about her art and photography.
She served as Vice-President and then President of the East Valley Art Association (San Jose, California) in the mid-80`s. At the same time, she received many ribbons and awards for both her art and photography. Her pictures have been published in such magazines as Family Motor Coaching, Car Collector, Bay Area Parent and numerous other publications.
She is represented by the Independence Gallery in Loveland, Colorado. Recently, her work has been featured in the 16th International Exhibition for the Northwest Pastel Society, The North Valley Art League 2006 Autumn Small Painting Show, the San Diego Art Institute International Exhibition for 2007, The Cape Cod Pastel Society 2007 Show, The Mid-America Pastel Show for 2007. Her work appears in the Richeson 75 Landscape and Exteriors Competition Exhibit Book for 2007. She is currently a member of the Pastel Society of Colorado, American Women Artists, Oil Painters of America, Pastel Society of Northern Rockies, and the Pastel Society of America. For 2008, she has been juried into the Spirit of the West Art Show in March, and the Germantown, Memphis, Tenneessee National Juried Art Show at the Germantown Events Center in February.
Her painting "Near Hayden Spires" has been selected as one of the "Top100" for Paint America. This esteemed honor was given to only 100 artists in the United States for 2007. The painting will be on tour throughout the United States in 2008.
Currently, she resides in Loveland Colorado with her husband and two basset hounds. She works full time as an artist and photographer. Her artwork is in oil, acrylic and soft pastels.
